E Recipes..share them with the world

I read this article this week   www.nytimes.com/2009/09/23/dining/23recipes.html?ref=dining face="Verdana" size="3"> and I was fascinated. At first the idea sounded like a home run. Create the perfect recipe that we all can add to and perfect it. But then I though about it, it might not create that perfect recipe. Just the thought of wiki/recipe where any one can change the recipe is great democratic thing but who tastes are we trying to please. Have you noticed how many cereals in the grocery store that are to please a number of tastes?

I come from a cultural that saids get three of us together, you get four opinions. Is that how we want to create recipes? So is wiki/recipe the way to do it? Then I thought about what my sister once stated that, that the test kitchens at Cooks Illustrated
www.cooksillustrated.com/recipes/ -  create the best of a dish for the general tastes of Americans. That would mean most people would like it but probably on a few would love them. Just so we are honest, I own four of their cookbooks and use them often. (hint: never surprised since the recipes are tested unlike some other cookbooks) I try the recipe as is written and then I add my own touches so the my eaters will love it. Sometimes I go back to the original recipe sometimes I add the notes of the changes I made. There is no sin of creating your own dish from a recipe. Therefore, I think the democratization is need in cooking and not on the recipe itself.

Talking about sin, I wish those who fast and easy fast and a happy new year.
