Summer Time and the Grill is Cooking
Summer time and we grill out. Most of our weekend meals are even eaten outside on the deck where we have a picnic table. It is a great view of the lake. Weekends we grill with coals. Weekdays in the city we grill on a gas grill. I really prefer coal. I think it adds a smoky taste where the gas leave no taste and .could be cooked on any stove. We tend to eat locally grown corn when it is ready (soon) and that is grilled also. I tend to prep and bring my potato salad and wild rice salad up with us made on Thursday night. That is why this is being written since I am avoiding going into the kitchen and cook.
Growing up grilling was a very rare thing. My German parents did not see the value of it. My father thought the food was a magnet for files and really did not want to eat it. Since some how grilling tends to mens work and Dad did not like the food we did not grill. I did do it occasionally but we are talking very rarely. In our family cookbook there would be no grilling recipes. No meals to be eaten outside. The only difference between summer and winter cooking would be cold soup in the summer while in the winter we had chicken soup each night.

since posting this I read one of my magazines over the weekend at the lake,
I am not the only one that thinks gas vs charcoal is subject that causes much debate. I was unconvinced that any thing tastes better on gas. Yes it might be easier but not with a chimney these days. Even fish tastes better but maybe grilling fruits and veggies might take on too much smoke flavor but then why not just roast them in the oven.
