Recipe for some great memories thru the generations
As I watch the snow fall this afternoon I am reminded of growing up in Cincinnati and having some snowy days where I would go sledding with my sister and accompanied by my father. We would go to Gibson Greeting Cards that a large hill. My father would help bring that sled up the hill over and over again. After our outing we would stop at my grandmother’s who lived down the street for some hot chocolate and some sweets. What great memories we created that we will carry with us our entire lives.
Cincinnati had some good snow this winter. So my cousin Jay took his son Gabe out for his first sledding adventure. I loved that Jay sent some video of Gabe’s great adventure of having fun in the winter snow. My biggest sadness was that Gabe did not get a chance to go to Oma’s for some hot chocolate. If they like the snow and want to be sure that they have it all winter long they could move here to Minnesota. I would even make my great hot chocolate for Gabe.
Cincinnati had gray winters that I hated. I have move to a place where we have snow all the time. It gets dirty and gray but in a few days it is all white again. I love the winter here except I would prefer the long springs that Cincinnati provides. I guess you cannot have it all. But great memories are something we get to share in.
Luscious Hot Chocolate
1/3 cup of unsweetened chocolate (Godiva is a good one to try)
½ cup sugar
Pinch of salt
4 cups of milk
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup of ½ and ½
Marshmallows
Melt chocolate in large saucepan over medium heat. Then add sugar and salt. Add the milk and ½ and ½ and slowly bring to a boil. Stir constantly. Make sure you do not scorch the milk. The take it off the stove and add your vanilla. Put two or three marshmallows’s in a cup and then pour the hot chocolate. Serve immediately. You can use a peppermint stick or cinnamon stick as a stirrer but a spoon will do.
Enjoy!
