Burnt Christmas Cookies

I have done it again. I know better and still I did it. I burned an entire tray of cookies. I turned the oven on to preheat it and then made my cookies. When I placed the first cookie trays in the oven I  did not pay attention to see if the preheat light went off. the cookies were to back 8 minutes and at about 6 I was smelling burning sugar. I should have waited for the oven to be preheated so my hurry cost me a tray of Christmas Cookies.

I relate this story so when you are writing your cookbook you can tell the tales of wow of your kitchen experiences. Some of them may be funny and some just show that you are human. There is not one cook that can come up with one bad experience in the kitchen.

Another reason to share this story is to remind you that you might want to add kitchen tips for your readers as part of your cookbook. One tip that I recommend is to wait for the oven to be heated and at temperature, before you try to bake.

There might be many hints to cooking and baking that your own mother may have given you. Those would be great to share. You may want to review your cookbooks to see what might pop in your mind of your own kitchen experiences. If you see tips in a cookbook and want to use them, my advice is to source it like you did in high school. Those sources give credit where credit is due and there can not be any confusion that you are using someones copy written material. This goes even if your are only making a cookbook for the family.

I would like suggest another hint, which is to actually make the recipes (as I always recommend that they are tasted and tested) and while you are making your dish some easy hints might come to mind and can be shared in your cookbook.

Some of our best stories we share with others is not our big successes but our failures. And there is no failure in trying
