Getting Kids back into the kitchen
A recent article in Cooking Light states that family meals matter and that eating together provides benefits beyond nutrition. The article starts "this holiday season, one of the most valuable gifts you 'll give your family won't come in a box or have a card attached. Instead, it will happen around your dining table where you'll sit down to share a meal, conversations and traditions with the people that matter most to you.
Finally there is research that eating as a family increases your physical health but also your mental health. Not only are the foods served much healthier and nutritious then those eaten out it gives us the connection with family members. Something I have continually harping about on my soap box.
One study showed that out of 1,500 teens surveyed found that 59% of them are eating dinner with their families at least five times a week. Amazingly that is a 12% increase over the last decade.
A family cookbook makes a lot of sense for families returning to eating at home.
