Reading, Writing and Recipesfor kids

I am so surprised that every where I turn these days there are articles about kids getting back into the kitchen.I did not think this was a big or grand idea. But maybe it is  because Mom or Day don't really want to be in the kitchen. People have created kitchens as big as the home I grew up in, with fancy appliances and counters that shine only to go out to eat. It has  to that or why would it be such a stretch to have the kids help make some of the meals. Don't get me wrong...I think kids in the kitchen is very important. They learn to eat food by making them. They build quality time with their parents and even their grand parents when they help prepare the meals. The Minneapolis Star Tribune had a great article by Beth Dooley where she outlined tips for cooking with kids. It is a great idea to introduce your kids to the kitchen and the newspaper even had a video that you can see www.startribune.com/taste/video the article was printed on September 11 if there is any confusion with this weeks stories. The article even said the kids created their own cookbook. That was sweet music to my ears!!!
